About Ayurveda
"Disease will not last in a body-mind that is flowing in harmony with the rhythms of the cosmos, which sustain the material world with energy." ~ Maya Tiwari
Ayurveda: The Science of Life
The Sanskrit term Ayurveda translates into “life knowledge” or “life science.” Ayurveda explores life in the context of Mother Nature herself, believing that when we live in harmony with the natural rhythms of life, we realize optimal health and well-being.
Ayurveda is an energy medicine working with nature’s five elements: space/ether, air, fire, water and earth. Each has its own specific energetic properties. As humans, we are made up of a unique combination of these elements, which characterize our own individual body/mind types. In Ayurveda, self-healing begins when we are able to recognize that the elements around us in nature are also inside of us.
Ancient living system of medicine
Ayurveda is known to have existed 5,000 years ago and is generally considered by many scholars and historians to be the oldest living system of medicine and health care in the world. It is considered to be a “living” science because each new generation continually refines its ancient wisdom.
Thousands of years after Ayurveda came into practice, Einstein’s theory of relativity emerged, stating that energy and matter are expressions of the same universal energy or substance. Ayurveda recognizes a similar field of intelligence, named “Pure Consciousness.” Ayurveda’s belief in the connection between mind, body and spirit recognizes that restoring balance is about looking at all levels of the human experience.
